Walton County finally puts up temporary wire fencing on 150' of Avalon Beach fencing to cover the gap created by taking the middle board down. Fencing started going up on May 16th. Great work by Skip Atkinson on getting this done. ▲

In early April, the Avalon Board of Directors and Sally Gaskin of the Beach Committee met to make a decision on whether to repair the walkover which was falling apart due to rot and weather. The Board decided to go for it and get it all fixed up before May 1 2012 and the beginning of turtle season. The results can be seen in the pictures below this one. ▲

This picture and the 4 below show the new decking, steps, and seating area. There is also a new grabrail along the steps. ▲

The picture speaks for itself. It doesn't get any better than this! ▲

I caught Bob and Dale in an intense philosophical discussion, but they stopped to let me get a snapshot. What some people will do in their front yard. ▲

Bill always has a project going on and this one was a little different, a surf board. He says it's going to be a table, but rumor has it he might give it a try for real. Everyone get your cameras. ▲

If you ever need to see Stan, you can usually find him in the yard trimming, planting, or spraying. Here he is after some of those pesky weeds. ▲

Stan Stanley, Avalon Landscape Coordinator worked hard to get a new streetlight installed up front for obvious safety reasons. In this photo crews are installing the lamp post on January 11th. ▲

Larry Williams gave a presentation on lawn care to Avalon residents at our poolside on April 11. There was a great turnout with requests for more educational programs in the future. ▲

On March 1, 2011 the Avalon pool opened with a brand new and spiffy looking pool deck, making things a lot safer. Less slipping and sliding ▲

Bill Stuck, Avalon sculptor, is assisted by Rita, his wife in selling a piece of sculpture to a customer while manning their site at the Mattie Kelly Arts Festival. The object d'art was so heavy that Bill soon disappeared to help her carry it to her car. ▲

Rollin Jackson took this picture (and the next) of our new pool deck. Looks great and will last forever (or at least for a VERY long time). Note that the pool is drained for cleaning so please stay out of the pool area. ▲

Stan Stanley has been looking for a Mercedes SL 550 in good shape for a long time and he finally found one. He found this previously owned one in pristine shape in Sarasota FL and proudly drove it back to his home in Avalon. And its beautiful (arrest me) red color makes it especially attractive. Great going Stan. ▲

Bill Stuck, our neighborhood accomplished sculptor, won an "Appreciation Award" at the 2011 Mattie Kelly Arts Festival held at Henderson Beach State Park, Sunday, October 30, 2011. Asked to comment on his award, Biil replied,"not so windy today." Wow. ▲

What a beautiful surprise I had this morning! The Gulf Fritillary had emerged from it's crysalis! Wings were dry and ready for release. I was hoping to snap a picture outside when I released him but he was too quick!!! Had no interest in hangnig around on a flower. Up, Up and Away!!!!!! ▲
